B. Larry "Snuffy" Smith

Benjamin Larry Smith, also known as “Snuffy”, was born in Orlando, Florida where he graduated from Edgewater High School in 1964. Upon graduating from LaGrange College in 1968, he attended Stetson College of Law where he matriculated in 1972, was invited to write for the prestigious Stetson Law Review, and was President of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.

 

With over 5 decades of legal experience, Mr. Smith has handled a variety of cases, including:

  • 1st degree murder trials including triple homicide, baseball bat murders
  • Multiple drug cases, such as a sailboat full of marijuana and an airplane full of marijuana in the Everglades
  • Represented 156 anti-abortion protestors, the largest number of defendants in front of same jury in history of American jurisprudence
  • Sued Amtrak in federal court
  • Federal court bank robbery trials
  • Had a $7,000,000 jury return in a bad faith insurance case
  • Represented over 4000 family law clients
  • Airboat noise litigation
  • North Florida bear poaching case-RICCO

 

Mr. Smith has jury trial experience at the county, state, and federal levels in Florida and is a member of multiple organizations, including the Florida Bar, Florida Justice Association, St. Petersburg Bar Association, Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association, and Rotary. Since 2006, he has been a partner in Smith Law Firm and Smith Asset Management Company located in Chiefland, Florida.

 

On a personal note, Mr. Smith was a founding member of the Pinellas County Crisis Pregnancy Center in St. Petersburg, FL, which has impacted over 350,000 people. He also served for 15 years as the District 5 Administrator with Little League Baseball. He presently attends the First Baptist Church in Cross City, Florida.

 

His interests are faith, family, friends, reading, athletics, fishing, hunting and golf. He has two sons, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He has been married for over fifty-six years to the former Christine McLaughlin.

Shannon Smith — Chiefland, FL — Smith Law Firm

B. Shannon Smith

Shannon Smith graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1986 and earned his undergraduate degree in National Security and Public Affairs from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1990.  While attending West Point, he played on the varsity baseball team where he was a four-year starter and captain of the team his senior season.
After graduation from West Point, Shannon served for ten years in the United States Army as a Field Artillery officer and was stationed at various locations during that time frame, including Germany and Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. 
After resigning his commission from the military, he worked as a financial consultant for the Investment Trust Company of Florida in Ocoee, FL.  Subsequent to working for several years in the financial industry, Shannon founded the Smith Asset Management Company in 2004. He then attended Barry University School of Law where he graduated cum laude in 2005.  In 2006, Shannon and his father established Smith Law Firm in Chiefland, FL.
Mr. Smith is a member of the Florida Justice Association, the Florida Bar, and the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association.  He is also on the board of the Eighth Judicial Circuit Guardian Ad Litem Foundation.
In addition to being an attorney, he was the head coach of the Dixie County High School baseball team  from 2021 through 2024 and was on the coaching staff of the Trenton High School 2013 and 2017 State Championship baseball teams. 
In the local community, Shannon is a member of the Education Foundations of Dixie, Gilchrist, and Levy counties.  Additionally, he is a member of the Chiefland Rotary Club, a board member of the Gilchrist League youth organization, and on the Advisory Board of the Harmony Pregnancy Center. He is a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Chiefland, FL.
Shannon enjoys hunting, boating, golfing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He has been married for 33 years to the former Christine Pierce.

B. Caleb Smith

Caleb Smith graduated from Trenton High School in 2011 and earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2015.

After graduation from West Point, Caleb served for 5 years in the United States Army as a Field Artillery Officer. He was stationed at various locations during that time frame, including Fort Carson, Colorado and Fort Bragg, North Carolina.


After resigning his commission from the military, Caleb attended law school, and in 2022, he became an Investment Advisor Representative. In 2023, he graduated with his Juris Doctorate from The University of Florida Levin College of Law.  After graduation, Caleb joined his father, grandfather, and brother at Smith Law Firm in Chiefland, FL. 


In addition to being an attorney and an investment advisor representative, Caleb is also the head coach of a T-ball team in the Gilchrist League where he enjoys teaching his sons all about baseball. In the local community, Caleb is a member of the Chiefland Rotary Club. He is a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Chiefland, FL.


In his free time, Caleb enjoys golfing, boating, reading, and spending time with his wife and his two sons Asher and Jensen.  He has been married for 7 years to the former Mackenzie Silcox.
